About Tommy D
Note: You may or may not notice some similarities between this and a portion of my introductory post.
I’m 23 years old and I work for a market research company in Los Angeles. I graduated from the University of Georgia in May 2012 with a Master’s degree in Marketing Research, and before that, I went to Clemson University as a Marketing major and Management minor. I’m originally from the unjustly-made-fun-of state of New Jersey. In addition to film, I’m also an avid fan of sports and music, and I used to co-author a blog with my buddy, Ryan Kantor, that catered to those interests before I decided to shift my focus to this blog. Ryan continues to write for that blog, and you can check it out (and my old posts) at ryankantor.com.
As far as my movie tastes go — comedies were always my favorite genre growing up (The 40 Year-Old Virgin is still one of my favorite films), but, while I still love them, I am finding myself more and more interested in psychological thrillers (Black Swan, Se7en, Fight Club, Donnie Darko, Memento) and well-crafted dramas (The Shawshank Redemption, Requiem for a Dream, Gran Torino). I also enjoy action movies, as long as they have at least somewhat of a plot with at least somewhat of a level of uniqueness (Inception, The Matrix, Leon: The Professional). Some of my favorite directors are Darren Aronofsky, David Fincher, Christopher Nolan, Quentin Tarantino, and Martin Scorsese. Some of my favorite actors and actresses are Edward Norton, Natalie Portman, James Franco, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Linda Fiorentino, and Gary Oldman. I could go on and on with more, but let’s just leave it at that for now. I’m sure a fuller scope of my tastes is/will be evident based on the posts in this blog.
